Using antique furniture to decorate a home is one of the most popular, timeless trends in the interior design world. However, it can sometimes be difficult for the average person to pair the right accessories or statement pieces with antique furniture without it becoming too overwhelming. Alex Papachristidis, a well-known interior designer, has turned his focus completely to designing with antique furniture and modern art, a combination many people would have never tried.
Papachristidis focuses on bringing these two very different elements together while still making his final look a showcase of the personality of the client. His signature style is one that he describes as traditional with a fresh hand, and credits his eclectic tastes and design aesthetic to his mother who he traveled with all over the world as a child. It was during his traveling that he was exposed to modern art and became very interested in it.
While his style may be unique, he encourages all of his clients to begin accruing their own furniture and artwork so they can start their own personal collection of these items. This way their home truly speaks to their own personality and sensibility. He recently wrote a book entitled “The Age of Elegance” in which you can learn more about his unique and wonderful design sense.
